Imported deforestation and duty of care – Webinar

On April 4, 2019, the Alliance for the Preservation of Forests co-organized with the NGO Mighty Earth a webinar on imported deforestation and duty of care.

Several goals were settled for this webinar:
• Present the findings of the Mighty Earth, Sherpa and FNE report (“Imported deforestation and duty of care: the forgotten case of soybeans.” In French)
• Inform companies of their obligations and the risks incurred (operational, financial, legal, reputational risks, etc.) within the framework of the law of due diligence and the risks incurred in case of breaches.
• Encourage companies to get involved in the soy sector but more widely to commit to all raw materials (beef, palm oil, cocoa, coffee, etc.) and non-food products (leather, wood and derived products, pulp, rubber …) responsible for deforestation.
• Present concrete solutions for businesses and the need to act in a coordinated way to be effective.
