The Alliance becomes a member of IUCN and will participate in the World Conservation Congress

January 2020: The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) approved the Alliance’s membership request as a member of the organization. We are proud to join this community of stakeholders committed to biodiversity.

As the World Conservation Congress will take place in Marseille in June 2020, the Alliance will build a 150 m2 forest village in the public zone called “Nature Generations Areas”.

This forest village aims to educate visitors about the forests condition, their role and services they provide to the planet. It will also inform visitors about their deforestation footprint and the solutions to reduce it. The complex circuits of raw materials such as palm oil or cocoa will be explained as well as the efforts undertaken to curb deforestation.

As a member, the Alliance will also support the motion to fight against imported deforestation. If voted at the World Conservation Congress, it could be a main topic at COP 15 in Kunming at the end of the year.
